Attendees at BGG.CON who participated in tournaments in 2015 received a special map. 

This post is a reminder of the map rules for anyone who may need them.

The Story So Far... Part 1

This will be the first of an ongoing series of articles that will cover my journey to Krosmaster Worlds 2016.

My adventure did not start the way most exciting adventures do. I was not bitten by a radioactive spider. A powerful wizard did not mark my front door with a treasure-hunting, home-reclaiming Dwarven meet up symbol. I did not find a strange message from a captured princess in the memory banks of a trash can-esque hooting and whirring robot. My story begins with a twitch.tv stream.

I was lucky enough to participate in the Texas Regional Championships at Quakecon 2015 in Dallas

over the weekend of July 25^th. This would be my first regional tournament ever and I was a little nervous to say the least. So I want to thank those folks who stayed up late with me trying to talk me off the ledge as we got closer to the event.

As one part experiment, and one part outreach to the other Texas fans, I decided to host the first (of what I hope to be several) DFW Krosmaster online tournaments. You'll find the list of players, their teams and a link to the online bracket after the break.

This month, Japanime Games will be at Quakecon 2015! There will be a booth and 4 tournaments scheduled; 2 for Beginners, and 2 open to all players, including the Mid-South Regionals. I'll continue to update this list as Maps and prize kits are announced.

Growing Pains and How to Power Through

In anything you do in life you find yourself hitting certain plateaus along the way where you feel stuck and not making any progress. Since I started playing Krosmaster, I’ve always played a very aggressive play style with heavy hitters and more tanky characters. I decided that I needed to take a break and branch out to other play styles and see what I could learn from them.  It’s important to have goals when you play a game so you always have something to strive towards.  In addition to trying to new things out, I wanted to work on closing out games. There are many times that I create a strong advantage for myself only to stumble in the later and more impactful rounds of a tournament. I wanted to practice closing those games out early so the games to save some mental horse power for the later games and committing my plays to memory to the point they are fluid and natural.
